Editorial Policy

“The Sequoyah Scribe” is published five times per academic year by the students in the Sequoyah Scribe journalism club at John Sevier Middle School in Kingsport, Tennessee. The program’s website is continuously updated throughout the academic year.

Content is determined by the staff and does not necessarily reflect the opinions and policies of John Sevier Middle School’s faculty, administration, adviser, or student body.

Students are protected in their exercise of press freedom by the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.

Signed editorials and columns reflect the views of the writer. Unsigned editorials reflect the opinion of the editorial board. Letters to the editor and guest commentaries are encouraged and must be signed. All letters and guest commentaries can be e-mailed to [email protected] or can be submitted by clicking here.

The editorial board reviews letters to the editor, advertising, and guest commentaries and reserves the right to edit and refuse material. Reasons can include length, clarity, libel, obscenity, material disruption to the educational process at John Sevier Middle School, or violation of copyright law.
