New Director of Technology

Recently Kingsport City Schools hired Scott Pierce as the new director of technology. He replaced John Payne who retired in early 2016. Pierce is very experienced with educational technology. He previously was the Director of Technology in Henry County Schools. Pierce began his new job January 29, 2016.


Blake Leeper Caught

Blake Leeper, a former Sevier student who medaled in the Paralympic Games, has been suspended for one year for violating anti-doping rules. Leeper tested positive for a substance in his system that indicates the use of cocaine. Leeper has expressed regret for his actions and apologized to his fans and family. The suspension will not stop him from trying to become the first Paralympic athlete to compete in the upcoming Olympic games.


National School Counseling Week

Kingsport City Schools honored the system’s school counselors for all of their hard work. The school system celebrated “National School Counselor” week from February 1 to February 5. School counselors do a lot for the students. They help them to learn about their abilities and strengths and help them with troubles at home. More than 30,000 counselors participated in “National School Counseling” week nation-wide.


Kingsport City Schools Hall of Fame Nominations

Kingsport City Schools is accepting Hall of Fame nominations for retired employees. The system will pick two teachers from each of the three categories. The categories are “Legacy” which includes people who retired before 1960, “Tradition” which includes educators who retired from 1960 to 1990, and “Modern Era” which includes employees who retired from 1991 to the present. Nominations are open until May 1, 2016.
